New Topographies
This series represents Diego Beyró's most recent pictorial research, a body of work that originates from his photographic archive of the Camino de Santiago to explore the duality of perception.
The central concept lies in the tension between the image and its material construction. Viewed from a distance, the works present a cohesive, almost photographic appearance. However, a closer approach reveals a complex and gestural topography: a layering of acrylic, markers, and pencils where the individual stroke and the controlled chaos of the lines become the protagonists.
This method invites the viewer to move between the illusion of the image and the evidence of the manual process. The pictorial gesture not only reinterprets the photographic memory but also establishes a direct correlation with the physical experience of walking, translating the body's movement in the landscape onto the surface of the canvas. The series is a continuous exploration of how attention to detail can transform our way of seeing.
